Criminal defense: Tennessee woman facing serious charges

| Aug 24, 2017 | Criminal Defense

The death of a child can be a heart-wrenching experience. The situation can become even worse when authorities suspect a parent to have played a role in the death. When serious charges are leveled in such a situation, having information on criminal defense options could help accused parties better plan for addressing their predicaments in a meaningful way.

One woman in Tennessee may soon be exploring her legal options after recently having charges brought against her. Reports stated that the allegations came about after the death of the woman’s 11-month-old child. The boy had apparently stopped breathing, and the woman had taken him to a medical center. She reportedly stated that the child had been showing symptoms for multiple days. He did not recover.

An investigation was opened into the incident, and it was determined that the boy died from an abdominal catastrophe. It was also noted that additional internal and external injuries contributed to the death. It was unclear what caused authorities to suspect the woman of any wrongdoing, but nonetheless, she was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect.

The charges brought against this Tennessee woman likely have her feeling overwhelmed and desperate. However, she does have legal options when it comes to handling the allegations. The criminal defense approach she chooses to take when addressing her case may depend on a variety of factors. By gaining more information on her options from reliable legal resources, she may feel more comfortable in making important decisions relating to her case.
