A Tennessee man is facing drunk driving charges after a single car accident in Murfreesboro. The driver suffered injuries in the accident and was taken for treatment at a local hospital. He was eventually released into the custody of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office and was officially arrested for drunk driving.
According to the report, the man was driving along Tennessee 840 when he veered out of his lane. It is then believed that the vehicle crossed two lanes of traffic, eventually rolling several times. While it is not immediately clear, it is likely that the driver's blood alcohol content (BAC) was tested at some point, possibly after he was taken for medical treatment.
In Tennessee, drunk driving convictions can result in jail time and driver's license suspension or revocation. When an individual loses his or her driving privileges, it can lead to problems with work and, eventually, loss of income. This financial difficulty, when paired with the fines that may be levied after a conviction, is serious and can have a long-reaching impact on an individual and his or her family. When facing the possibility of such serious consequences, a defendant can greatly benefit from the assistance of a lawyer experienced in drunk driving cases.
There are many defense options available for those who face drunk driving charges. This may include fighting the charges in court by challenging evidence presented by the prosecution, such as BAC test results and other factors. Depending on the circumstances of the case, it may be beneficial for the client to take a plea agreement. Either way, it is always best to fully understand all possible outcomes before making any potentially life-changing decisions.
