Tennessee man faces vehicular homicide charges

A Tennessee man is facing serious legal trouble after a car accident resulted in the death of a passenger. The fatal one-car crash occurred as the vehicle was headed east on Interstate 240 when it hit the front right side of the guardrail. The vehicle subsequently hit a guardrail on the other side of the roadway before stopping up against the guardrail along the side of I-240 where the first collision occurred. According to reports, the passenger hit his head and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver was charged with vehicular homicide-intoxication.

He was also charged with failure to exercise due care, failure to have financial responsibility and operating the vehicle without a license. Although his vehicular homicide charges were related to intoxicated driving, his blood alcohol content at the time of the accident was not reported. At this point, he has not been convicted of any charges and is still considered innocent in the eyes of the law.

In Tennessee, a conviction for vehicular homicide can result in serious penalties. Some of these penalties include prison time, parole, fines and more. Without question, the consequences of a conviction can have a far reaching impact on a person's life. As a result, it is important to confront these charges with an appropriate defense strategy.

An individual facing DUI charges has the right to contest the accusations. With the help of a lawyer, it is possible to effectively defend against vehicular homicide charges and pursue an outcome that is in one's best interests. When facing a serious legal situation, a complete case evaluation can determine what available legal options may be appropriate given the details of an individual situation.
