Nashville Businessman Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion

A local businessman from Davidson County has pleaded guilty to five counts of tax evasion and has been given three years of probation. Ahmad T. Wahidi, owner and manager of J.T. Liquors LP, pleaded guilty to tax evasion and theft last week. Wahidi has to pay back the state over $31,000 in restitution. The Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted a special investigation on Wahidi and discovered that he had no paid sales tax from January 2002 to August 2005. The case was then pursued criminally by the department and the Davidson County district attorney general's office. Wahidi was placed on two year's probation for the tax evasion charges and one year's probation for the theft charge.

Aside from the $31,364.22 in restitution that Wahidi must pay back to the state of Tennessee, he will also have to serve three years total of probation.
